Balance & Consistency
We all want to live a better, richer, fuller life. But where to begin? Look to two simple traits that have stood the test of time: balance and consistency.
Why do fad diets fail? Because there is no balance. A radical new system is suddenly introduced into an environment with little preparation or integration. Too much emphasis is placed on individual indicators, without consideration of the broader objective. The balanced life is moderated and sustainable. We should be constantly testing new foods, exercises, hobbies, people and thoughts, taking the good and discarding the bad. We are all different. The mix will look different for everyone. The point is to find what works for you, what suits your body and mind, and to keep it interesting.
If inspiration is fuel, then consistency is the engine that propels us forward. We should not burn all of our fuel at once. While tempting, we will be left empty and not far from where we began. It is impossible to jump across a city, but if we start walking we’ll get there eventually and manage some fun along the way. Consistency requires balance, and balance requires consistency. Balance makes consistency attainable and liberating, and consistency creates opportunities to find balance.
The life we wish to lead invites us to check in with ourselves. To grow our life practice. To find balance and consistency.
